FAQ
Questions, answered
Can readers download the books?
No. Folio only shows compressed preview pages inside the 3D viewer. There is no download option, and authors choose how many pages to share.
Do I need an account to read?
No. Anyone can open a book and flip through it. Accounts are only for authors who publish.
What file types can I upload?
PDFs, or a set of JPG, PNG or WebP page images. Pages are converted to WebP at about 1024px wide, so a full preview is typically 1–4 MB.
Who owns the content I upload?
You do. You only grant Folio permission to display your preview pages. Read the Terms for the details, and use our takedown process if you spot infringement.
How is my data handled?
We collect the minimum needed to run the service and handle it in line with India’s DPDP Act. See the Privacy Policy.
